Reflection on DOAJ
One of the assignments that I find to be worthwhile in my classes is a research paper analysis. For this assignment, students must read and analyze a scientifically peer reviewed article; the topic would have to be related to human anatomy and physiology. One of the most difficult aspects of this assignment is finding a research paper; some students are not able to properly navigate data bases or differentiate between different scholarly sources. However, DOAJ is simple to use and can be used by students to find a research paper that would be suitable for the class. One of the skills that students lack is the ability to distinguish between credible and non-credible sources; there is so much material in the internet that it is overwhelming to know what is good material and what isn’t. This data base is free and simple to use. I definitely will use this tool as an example of locating journal articles to be used for an analysis paper.

This is a great use of the open access journals. I agree that this database provides a simpler and contained point of entry for students who are new to searching for academic journals. Also, for students who speak languages other than English, there are many international journals that use this platform. They could potentially read articles in English and in other languages. I wonder what guidelines will you provide students that help them figure out how to evaluate the content of the journals and the sources.
